Sep. 10th, 2011 @ 11:01 pm 4K!
It's so hard to believe, like the others have said, that our little ones are just a few months from turning 5! We just started talking about Morgan's party. She has already decided on a Tangled/Rapunzel theme. She's suddenly obsessed with Barbies and Disney Princesses - I love it!!! She wants to play dress up, do her hair and play pretend. Her imagination is incredible, she's always amazing me with how grown up she is. She's also very good with her little sister, Addison. She's always trying to teach her things, play with her or keep her out of trouble. She's such a little mommy!

She's still my little giant. She's wearing size 7 shirts and pants, size 1.5 shoes and she weighed in at 55lbs the last time she was at the doctor. Because she's got a large frame, I'm really trying to keep her active to avoid getting Mommy's "curves". She started soccer today and she LOVED it!

First day of school!

Have any of your toddlers preschoolers been evaluated by a speech and language pathologist?

Stuart doesn't have any cognitive issues (of which we're aware), but he does have what seems, to me, like extreme hypernasality, particularly with his "S" sounds. (How unfortunate that his name begins with an "S"!). Last night, my husband plugged Stuart's nose while asking him to "hiss like a snake," and Stuart was completely incapable of reproducing the sound. (Stuart thought this was a terribly amusing game, incidentally; so it wasn't like we were drilling him: "Hiss, damn you! Hiss!").

I put in a call to our school district's early childhood ("special needs") program, which seemed like a more direct route than mucking through our primary care provider's veritable onion of referrals/dispensations (each with its own associated co-pay, of course). An SLP should be contacting me shortly. Not to put the cart before the horse, but, from what I've read, this is often a craniofacial malformation issue (any parents of children with palate-related miscellany out there?) -- not habit that can be redressed with speech therapy alone. It looks like most cases have to be treated with surgery or oral "appliances."

The fun never ends!

Dec. 17th, 2009 @ 09:34 am Happy Birthday Mia!
Mia turned three on December 2nd. We had a birthday party at our house. Its been a long while since I've posted here. I remember this being an awesome group. Mia outgrew all her conditions she had when she was born, so she's pretty healthy now :) I'm happy for that. She's a chatterbox and she has so much energy. She also has a little sister to look out for. Her name is Molly and she's 10 months old.

Happy birthday to all December babies!

Dec. 13th, 2009 @ 07:35 pm Thank you!
Thank you Logan and babycartlidge! Morgan loves the two books and flash cards. My husband and her were ripping into the package before I had a chance to even say "Not until your birthday!" But we've already been through both books three times today!

Aug. 25th, 2009 @ 11:23 am Cadence pictures

Here she is with her daddy when she was around 1+

and here she is just last week at the lake

and another recent one.

Cade is starting full-time preschool next week and it's making me sad.  She's ready except for potty training, and has been going to the same daycare 3 days a week since she was one. It shouldn't be a difficult transition for her. For me?  definitely!

My lord these two have so much attitude, it's hilarious! Julian made it about 4 pictures and then he was done with being in front of the camera and lights. Meta has almost made it to being a complete ham. Not quite, but almost.

Every night, for about a week or so, we put Meta down to sleep in her own bed, Jude is asleep at that point in his own bed. After about a couple hours where we think she is completely asleep, we go check on her to her being fast asleep in Jude's bed, usually with her arm around him. I just took this photo 5 minutes ago, she is fast asleep as he is.

Just sooo freakin' cute!

May. 28th, 2009 @ 08:29 am 'I'm scared!'
Hey all! Long time no post in the community!

So is anyone elses kid going through this 'I'm scared' phase. I swear Noah says he is scared and cowers behind my leg at EVERYTHING! It is ridiculous. I tell him it is okay to have the feelings but he needs to be brave and that Mommy will protect him. But seriously, I get that the elephant scares you and the tunnel, but the mashed potatoes and your shoes! Come on!

"Shoes scare me, Mommy. "
